Stage 6 Classes

7 years to 9 years
Maximum of 6 children per class
30 minute classes

Go Swimming Stage 6 classes are the final stage before our Junior Coaching Squads. The Go Swimming instructor will place a lot of emphasis on further developing the correct swimming techniques for freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke, as well as teaching additional skills required to transition through to the Dolphin squad. To pass Stage 6 your child will swim 25 metres of freestyle, 25 metres of backstroke and 25 metres of breaststroke all with correct technique. We will also introduce racing starts where the swimmer starts from in the pool, completes a torpedo under water and moves smoothly into the freestyle stroke.

Be Consistent!
Consistency is key in swimming lessons. Like all developmental learning, children learn by repetition. A once a week lesson is not a lot of time to spend learning in the water (think about how much time children spend learning skills at school!), so it is important to endeavour to not miss any of your child’s swimming lessons. If you do miss a lesson then please arrange a make-up lesson with us to catch up the missed lesson. We are here to help and we want your child to progress through our swim school to become a safe and confident swimmer!

How Long Will My Child Be in the Stage 6 Class?
In Stage 6 your child is swimming well and the Go Swimming instructor will work on further refining swimming techniques that require more work. Most children will pass through the Stage Six class in about 3 months.
